Bill Oesterle, Indianapolis, is one of 14 people named by the trustees to look for the school's next president. He is a university trustee.Oesterle, chief executive of Angie's List in Indianapolis, a consumer service that rates businesses, has played key roles in the rehabilitation of the governor's residence, as well as the establishment of a fund to help push Daniels' agenda outside the Statehouse.University officials are optimistic that they can get a top candidate for the job, although the search comes at a time when several Big Ten schools are looking for presidents, including Indiana University."The last time we searched for a new president, we were a very good university," said J. Timothy McGinley, chairman of the Purdue board of trustees, in a prepared statement. "Today, we are much stronger, and Purdue should attract the very best candidates. We expect to continue to improve as we move toward preeminence."Jischke will retire in June, closing out a seven-year tenure that included record fundraising efforts.Trustees John Hardin Jr. and Michael Birck will lead the search committee, which includes representatives from faculty, staff, students, alumni and the trustees.The panel is expected to select and evaluate finalists.The trustees also tapped R.W. Funk & Associates, an executive search firm, to help in the hunt.Others on the search committee:Trustee Susan Bulkeley Butler, Phoenix, retired executive with Accenture, author and founder of Susan Bulkeley Butler Institute for the Development of Women Leaders.Trustee Mamon M. Powers Jr., Gary, president of Powers Construction Co.Diane Denis, professor and senior associate dean of management.Thomas Farris, head of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics.Jonathan Foltz, Purdue Student Government president.Joseph Francisco, William E. Moore Distinguished Professor of Earth and Atmospheric Science and Chemistry.Charles Rutledge, vice president for research and former dean of the College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Sciences.Bernard Tao, professor in agricultural and biological engineering, Purdue University Senate chairman and the Indiana Soybean Board Professor in Soybean Utilization Research.Michael Wartell, chancellor of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.Carolyn Perrucci, professor of sociology and anthropology.Alum Jerry Semler, Indianapolis, chairman of the board of American United Mutual Insurance Holding Co. and its subsidiary, OneAmerica Financial Partners.
