A new study predicts that the emerging class of very light jets, also called microjets, will be worth $2.52 billion in the five-year period starting in 2007.

The full study, done by the research department of PMI Media Ltd., an air transport and aerospace publication based in the United Kingdom, will be released next month. It analyzes the regulatory challenges to microjet operations and their impact on small airports, on training and on insurance.

The Eclipse 500 is poised to be the first to be delivered to customers. In July, Eclipse said it would deliver 50 planes this year. The company is in the midst of re-examining that number, it said.
